Sarangani highlands Children's Fellowship

January 26, 2014

Finally the children of Kihan had gathered for the awaited children’s fellowship. It was originally planned on the 5th of January but because of the unexpected rains, the river is unpassable and we have to postpone the said activity. January 26, 2014 my wife Louella and I made it to the highlands despite the challenge of river crossing as the river was still high at that time. Using my motorcycle i tied the things needed for the children at the back of it and went through the challenging road toward the venue.

Around 50 children gathered for the activity. With the help of my wife Louella and Pastora Karen Mada, a tribal worker of Faith Gospel Church, we successfully carried on the program.

Children gathered at the grassy play area at Napoleon, Kihan, Malapatan amidst the heat of the sun on that sunday afternoon. Pastora Karen opened the activity in singing and prayer. I led the story telling with the aid of a projector. We were not able to take with us the big screen because of transportation issue. And My wife Louella completed the fun with games and surprises. It was such a joy to see these children come to Christ and experience the joy of fellowship. Many who joined are children of Christian families from different churches. There are also who joined because thier friends were there. Some children are watching in the background out of curiousity as that was the first children's ministry in the area but later they joined during the games and surprises.

WE WERE DONE AT 5:30 in the afternoon and every body including the parents were enjoying the activity. We then load our stuff to be able to reach home before dark as my motorcycle has no headlight.
But unfortunately the motorcycle fell in the middle of the river while i crossed it and the current carried the poor motorcycle down. I rushed down to retrieve it and the push just to get the motorcycle out of the river was an ordeal  and i made it.

My wife and I asked for help from a nearby village as it was already dark. 3 boys came and helped me push the motorcycle as i needed to make 2 more crossing of that split part of the river. Then i drained the fuel tank when we reached the village and a villager offered me a gasoline from his motorcycle. I was grateful for people who are willing to help in times like that. We left the place using my wife's cellphone flashlight and after an hour travel, we reached home at 9 o"clock in the evening, grateful for what God has done during that day.

The goal of this ministry is to present the Gospel to the children, teach them who Christ is, expose them to christian Songs and activities, and Train them for christian witness and fellowship. The fun is the avenue to gather the children as this excites them every time.

I am praying that the Lord will raise someone to direct this ministry that focuses on children christian life development. And in connection with this prayer, please pray for Pastora Karen Mada to make the necessary steps and preparation  to handle the children ministry in this area of Sarangani Province.
